Important announcement re Fergus Taylor’s Midlands Title fight

Newark professional boxer Fergus Taylor’s Midlands Title fight, scheduled for Saturday 28 February, has been postponed due to medical reasons, it was announced today.

Suggy’s Gym head coach Dean Sugden said: “We were informed by the British Boxing Board of Control this morning that there is an issue with Fergus’s recent brain scan.

“It is therefore with great disappointment that we announce that he has had to withdraw from his contest against champion Luke Paddock on Saturday.

“The postponement comes after a great deal of hard work on Fergus’s part, an amazing training camp including some tough but excellent sparring with top prospect Ryan Fields and with both pre-fight weigh in checks completed by the BBBofC.

“We are obviously shocked and absolutely gutted by this. But we are still finding out more details about the issues and would ask everyone not to contact Fergus directly with questions about what has been said today, as we are still trying to understand it ourselves.”

All ticket money will be returned but tickets must be taken to Suggy’s Gym on Castlegate within the next 48 hours to obtain a refund.

“The gym will be open for refunds this evening from 6pm to 7.30pm, on Friday from 4.15pm to 7.15pm and on Saturday from 7am to 12 noon,” said Dean. ”The deadline for refunds is midday on Saturday as we intend to return all tickets to the promoter before the start of the show.

“On behalf of Fergus and his training camp at Suggy’s Gym, I would like to thank you all for your understanding and support.”
