Some of the top fighters in the country are to be given the unmissable opportunity to compete for a chance to showcase their skills on the biggest promotion in the world when THE OFFICIAL ROAD TO GLORY comes to the UK for the first time ever on Saturday 11 March 2017.
Three of the fighters taking part in the event at Lincolnshire’s Grantham Meres 1500-seater stadium will be rewarded with deals to appear on the GLORY stage, which is widely recognised as the global leader in terms of production, exposure and remuneration.
“Kickboxers and practitioners of Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Karate alike all aspire to compete on GLORY shows,” said Dean Sugden, head coach of Suggy’s Gym and promoter of the Grantham event. “Our very own Chad ‘2 Slick’ Sugden describes fighting for GLORY in Dubai and Las Vegas as the highlight of his professional kickboxing career and, as someone who’s fought all over the world with other promoters, he should know.
“GLORY has been running these ROAD TO GLORY events across the US for some time now to find the best talent in the States. They have very kindly given us permission to use their brand name to promote our last three shows but this will be the first time THE OFFICIAL ROAD TO GLORY has been seen in the UK.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be giving fighters this amazing opportunity and, in doing so, to be bringing fans what is guaranteed to be an action-packed evening they won’t want to miss.
“And as all if this wasn’t enough, there’s yet more great news for fight fans who will be thrilled to learn that GLORY returns to the UK next year with a massive show in London.”
The eight best Featherweights in the country will be invited to Grantham in March to take part in an 8 Man Tournament, fighting at 65kg max. “This weight is explosive and powerful and the man who wins three times on the night will be walking away with a £2000 purse. But that’s not all they’ll be fighting for, as both the winner and the runner-up will each secure a two-fight deal on GLORY,” added Dean.
THE OFFICIAL ROAD TO GLORY will also feature three of the biggest Super Fights seen in the country for some time, with another opportunity to fight on GLORY next year up for grabs for the winner of the Welterweight clash between ISKA and WKA World Champion Kev Ward and a challenger to be named.
“When we announce Kev’s opponent everyone will realise why the winner deserves a fight on the biggest kickboxing stage in the world,” said Dean. “Bringing these two gladiators together, with the stakes being so high, means the crowd at Grantham Meres will be in for a real treat. We’ll also be releasing news soon of the two other Super Fights, Heavyweight and Lightweight clashes that fans will find just as exciting, together with an undercard stacked with so much talent it could headline any other fight card in the country.
“Tickets, priced £35 for Tiered and Upper Balcony and £60 VIP Ringside, will go on sale in the next few weeks and, with a line-up like this, they’re sure to sell fast. In the meantime, anyone wanting to get involved in this memorable event should contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.”
