Co-headline fight in Grantham pays tribute to the legendary Ramon ‘The Diamond’ Dekkers

Just over five weeks until FIGHTMAX SUPERSTAR FIGHT LEAGUE returns to Grantham Meres Leisure Centre and there’s more great news about the show, which will be featuring some of the best fighters from across the UK and Europe.

On the card alongside professional kickboxer Bailey ‘The British Bulldog’ Sugden, whose matchup with France‘s Ibrahim Madi for the ISKA World Title is the headline fight of the night, will be Leicester-based Chace Griffin competing at 57kg against Sheffield‘s Blayne Armitage in their co-headline fight for the prestigious Ramon Dekkers Belt.

“This is something I’ve been working on for some time with the family of the late, great Ramon ‘The Diamond’ Dekkers and I’m delighted to have been given the chance to honour and remember him in this way,” said Dean Sugden, co-founder of FightMax SFL with Steve Kerridge.

“He is without doubt the undisputed best of all time in our sport and I can’t thank Cor and Nick Hemmers enough for allowing us to pay this tribute to him.

“The belt will be an active one, whoever wins it will be fighting to defend it and we’re pleased to announce that at every one of our upcoming events we will be looking to match the very best in the UK to contend for it.

“To own it outright, it will have to be defended successfully twice, after which we will then be going all out to help the owner progress to fight on some of the biggest stages in the world.

“Blayne and Chace are two of my favourite fighters and both, like Ramon himself, love to fight.”

“I feel honoured to be fighting for the Ramon Dekkers belt,” said 25-year old Chace, whose debut for FightMax SFL in October 2019 saw him defeat the more experienced Ben Fahey by a second round KO. “The opportunities are coming, I’m ready for them all and much as I respect my opponent he’s not on my level, which is exactly what I’ll be showing everyone come Friday 18 March.”

“I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to fight for this prestigious belt and I’m going to be doing my absolute best to take it back to Sheffield,” said his 23-year old opponent Blayne.

“Two great fights to mark our long-awaited return to Grantham Meres and several more on the card too, including one featuring London-based Marcus Powell, a familiar face on our events, up against Ben Hubball from Sheffield in what could easily be the Fight of the Night,” added Dean.

“Tickets for the show, priced £75 each for Gold VIP Table seats (10 per table) and £35 each for Standard Tiered Seating, are already selling fast – if you haven’t already done so, contact one of the fighters or call the hotline on 07816 840920 to get yours now.”
