Just over halfway through its four weeks of free boxing sessions for youngsters, the team at Suggy’s Gym is getting ready to host a special Fun Day on Saturday 1 October.
An opportunity to find out more about the classes and courses on offer at 49 Castlegate, the home of Newark Amateur Boxing Club since 2002, the free event takes place from 12 noon to 4pm and will be open not only to kids but to adults as well.
Everyone visiting the gym will be able to take part in four hours of free activities during the afternoon, when they will also have a chance to meet its team of fully qualified coaches and some past and present champions too.
Ten-minute taster sessions will be on offer on the hour every hour, there will be free refreshments, competitions and giveaways during the event and all of the gym’s personal trainers will be available for free consultations throughout the afternoon.

“Our free boxing sessions have been really popular, with lots of 5 to 12-year-olds taking part on Tuesday and Thursday evenings since they began a couple of weeks ago,” said Suggy’s Gym head coach Dean Sugden.
“And the response from parents and kids alike has been great. We’ve had plenty of youngsters giving boxing a go for the very first time and plenty of enquiries about gym memberships for them too. So we’re looking forward to welcoming quite a few of them on a regular basis after the four-week free offer comes to an end on Thursday 6 October.
“One of the things we’re particularly proud of here at the gym is making sure that the regular classes we run are good fun for everyone. So, to thank those who’ve taken part in the free sessions so far and give them and others, both youngsters and adults alike, the chance to help us celebrate Newark ABC’s 20th anniversary, we’re inviting them all to join us for this special event we’re holding on Saturday.
“There’s no need to book, just turn up at any time between 12 noon and 4pm, ready to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with the Suggy’s Gym team.”
