The new year got off to a great start for five Newark youngsters this week, when they received awards for their commitment to boxing and kickboxing at Suggy’s Gym during 2018.

Taking the trophy for Most Improved Boxer was 15-year old Mac O’Brian, 12-year old Alfie Briggs-Price scooped the Dean’s Dedication award for boxing and the Best Boxer of the Year title went to another 12-year old, Sam Hardy.

There were trophies too for young kickboxers James Jordan, aged 10, who won the Fighter of the Night award and 12-year old Chloe Davies who received the Dean’s Dedication Award.
