Talking TUFF

Frank, funny and no holds barred – true to form, Dean Sugden wasn’t pulling any punches when he joined Jack Fletcher of TUFF Promotions recently for this online interview…

Check out what he had to say about his three pro fighting sons ChadRegis and Bailey – about the need for more targeted support from boxing’s governing bodies for independent gyms such as Suggy’s Gym and their clients in these trying times – and his own personal experience of being in lockdown.

“It’s been tough for everybody and I’ve had my lows,” he admitted. “One thing I’m very passionate about I’ve not been able to do – to coach other people, that’s the thing that motivates me, excites me and drives me.

“But I tried to use the time to improve myself, not just as a coach but as a mentor, as a manager, and as somebody who loves combat sports. And when I’m under pressure, I feel like it brings out the best in me, whether on a personal or a professional level.”

Find out what else the man Jack quite rightly called ‘Newark’s finest‘ had to say here…
