TONY CROWDEN

I had been considering joining a gym for some time and, having spoken to Dean, thought that I would give it a go – so turned up just after Easter in 2013.

I wasn’t sure what to expect and started with bootcamp which I really enjoyed. I soon decided that I wanted to do more and more and wanted to do something about my weight and body shape.

I started to have personal training sessions with Irvine which I have to say were very hard going. The sessions are very focused on what I want to get out of them and have resulted in some fundamental changes in my lifestyle and ability. One challenge that had to be overcome was my chronic asthma and how I could exercise given the frequency of episodes, some of which have been very severe.

During these periods both Dean and Irvine have worked with me to ensure that I have been able to continue training and achieve my goals. I really enjoy the challenges that are posed and use a variety of equipment. I am currently building up my running distance, something I particularly disliked at school, as well as intensive sessions of weight training.

Does it work? The answer is a resounding YES. In the time I have been training I have lost about 12kg in weight and have seen a dramatic change in body shape – to the extent that I have lost almost 4 inches off my waist.

It is one of the most welcoming places to train and everyone there is always willing to help to make sure that you get the best out of your time there. I would certainly recommend anyone to take a personal training session and would like to thank Irvine and Dean for all of their continued support.

I currently do bootcamp twice a week, have one personal training session a week and, if work commitments allow, go to circuit training on Fridays. I have made a really close group of friends including Laura, Helen, Marie, Alison, Michael, John and Andrew and we frequently meet up out of the gym.
